Fantastic Mr Fox
(A musical play)

Roald Dahl's much loved story follows the vain attempts of three farmers Bogus, Bunce and Bean, one fat, one short, one lean, to get rid of Fantastic Mr Fox who outwits them at every turn as he steals food from their farms.
Auditions for this musical play are open to children and adults alike and all are welcome to come along, regardless of your experience. The audition will consist of a short ensemble workshop, followed by the text auditions which you will see below. Please wear loose clothing for a movement warm up at the beginning of the audition.

There will be 12 performances running from Thursday 4th July to Monday 26th August.
Rehearsals are scheduled for Thursdays 7-9pm and Sundays 3-6pm.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
​
MR FOX
Playing Age: 20s-40s Confident, quick thinking and courageous. Good acting and singing skills
​
BADGER
Playing Age: 30 upwards
Reassuring, Steadfast, Trustworthy. Good Acting skills. May be required to sing
MRS FOX
Playing Age: 20s-40s
Wife to Mr Fox and Mother to their children Mrs Fox is bravely protective. Good acting and singing skills.
BOGGIS
Playing Age: 20+
Pot Bellied Farmer, mean, greedy. Determined to catch and kill Mr Fox. Strong Character Actor, physical comedy and singing ability required.
BUNCE
Playing Age: 20+
Vertically challenged farmer. Teams up with Boggis and Bean to capture and kill Mr Fox and any of the animals which get in their way. Strong Character Actor, physical comedy and singing ability required.
BEAN
Playing Age: 20+
A lean, tall Farmer. Teams up with the other farmers to Kill Mr Fox. Strong Character Actor, physical comedy and singing ability required.
RAT
Playing Age: Non specific
A whinging, drunken parasite who resides in Farmer Bean’s secret cider cellar. Good character actor
MABEL
Playing Age: 40+ A gossipy housekeeper. Brilliant cameo role for a strong character actor
THE FOUR FOX CHILDREN and BADGER CHILD
Playing Ages: approx 7-14yr Speaking and singing roles for children. Confident young actors with good movement and singing ability.

Playing Age: Mixture of ages All ensemble roles require an enthusiasm for singing and dancing/movement, as well as some individual smaller speaking roles within the ensemble.

STERTS THEATRE COMPANY MEMBERSHIP
Sterts has reviewed the membership fee for 2019 and the following rates apply:
Adult £50
Child (under 18) £25
This rate still proves to be outstanding value and covers all rehearsals sessions, production dates, and enables us to provide you with the teaching and experience of a professional Creative Team inc, Season Director, Show Director and Musical Director. As a Sterts Theatre Company member (over 18) you will be eligible to vote at the annual Sterts AGM. You will also receive a team card ticket which give you FOC access to each of the Sterts Summer Season In House shows.
Once casting has been completed you will receive a registration form and to accept your part you will need to complete this along with payment of your fees.
This year Sterts has launched a bursary scheme which aims to financially assist those in need with membership fees.
